Public activity of the Plural Committee for Ernesto Ruffo's Freedom
This chronological record brings together six documented public gatherings in August 2026: the Baja California presentations, formation of the Yucatán committee in Mérida, the gathering outside the FGR in Mexico City, and the Morelos committee presentation in Cuernavaca. New photographs were provided by the committee and family; the recaps are checked against press coverage and keep advocacy positions attributed.
Presentation of the Morelos plural committee
· Cuernavaca, Morelos
The Morelos plural committee was presented publicly in Cuernavaca. El Universal, La Crónica de Morelos, and Periodismo MX reported a videorecorded message from Verónica Ruffo and attributed requests from the committee and participants for a custody measure other than pretrial detention, open hearings, and respect for due process. These are participants' requests and characterizations, not judicial findings.
Vicente Fox, former president of Mexico, outside the FGR
· Outside the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic, Mexico City
Verónica Ruffo and former President Vicente Fox took part in a public gathering outside the FGR. Verónica Ruffo described it to this archive as the committee's largest gathering to that point. Diario de México and TV Azteca documented participants' attributed calls for Ernesto Ruffo to be released or continue proceedings under a less restrictive custody measure. MVS Noticias later published the FGR's account that it had not directly received a house-arrest request from the defense; the defense publicly disputed that position. None of those positions replaces a judicial determination.
Presentation of the Yucatán plural committee
· Mérida, Yucatán
On August 18, the Yucatán Plural Committee for Ernesto Ruffo's Freedom was presented in Mérida. Radio Mayab TV and Nota Tras Nota reported Patricio Patrón Laviada's participation and a videorecorded message from Verónica Ruffo; Diario de Yucatán also covered the gathering. Calls concerning due process, the presumption of innocence, and a less restrictive custody measure belong to the committee and quoted participants.
Closing presentation-tour stop in Mexicali
· 18:00 · Mexicali, Baja California
The committee closed the tour in Mexicali. Coverage datelined in that city records its demand that the former governor face his trial in freedom and its characterization — attributed to the committee — of a “political prisoner.”
Committee presentation in Ensenada
· 11:00 · Ensenada, Baja California
The Ensenada gathering took place outside Ernesto Ruffo's home, with neighbors and supporters; photographs provided by the committee document the day. Days earlier, Milenio recorded support messages from city residents, among them: “The day he comes back, we are going to throw a party.”
Committee presentation in Tijuana
· 17:00 · Tijuana, Baja California
The Tijuana presentation brought together family members, civic leaders, and public figures. Verónica Ruffo, the former governor's daughter, took the floor and asked attendees to accompany the family “holding hands until my dad is free”; Emilio Álvarez Icaza also spoke, and Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos took part, according to Reforma's account.

References to crimes describe allegations and procedural stages. Being linked to proceedings is not a conviction. No guilty judgment has been issued, and the presumption of innocence applies.
